London has arguably the best music scene around, with thousands of talented musicians emerging every day, most of which are unsigned acts waiting for their big break.

Unsigned Friday brings you the very best unsigned music artists from around the capital, as well as giving these acts a platform to promote their music.

This week, getwestlondon's Emily Chudy caught up with rapper SpikezOfficialArtist.

SpikezOfficialArtist is a rapper, songwriter and producer who lives in Hayes. He has a CD available on Youtube, entitled Take A Listen, and is currently working on a second CD.

He said: "At the age of around eight or nine I started writing little rhymes here and there, which then I started collecting all the lyrics trying to put it together into a full track.

"I also remember buying my first tape from Woolworth's, called Country Grammar, which featured an American rapper called Nelly, and always used keep up-to-date with new music that was coming out each week.

"I was always inspired by different sounds of music and was always musically orientated as lots of different types of music used to be played around the family home, from Asian music, Latino, reggae and rap!

"My first music performance was at the age of around 17 or 18, and was at a club called Liquid in Uxbridge, where I performed one of my tracks called My Life, which was put together by a production team called Urban Music Stars. It gave me a chance to showcase what I had put together, which was a great experience and the feedback was also great, which gave me the ability and confidence to carry on writing more songs.

"As time went by I put my first mixtape together, which was entitled Take A Listen, and I was fortunate to work and collaborate with a south London Brazilian Rapper called Aggro Santos, who was inspired with the type of sound I was bringing through at the time. We also put a track together called Hold Up & Jam, which is also featured on the mixtape."

SpikezOfficialArtist says his favourite artists are Dappy from N-Dubz, Coldplay, Lana del Rey, Zack Knight, Jay Z, Kanye West, Don Omar, Daddy Yankee, Eminem, J Cole and Tinie Tempa.

He added: "My biggest influences I would have to say was capturing moments from flyering in the past and helping out at various music club events with the owner and also a good friend of the company called Phatnights which holds many great club events around west London.

"I also used to do a lot of multitasking and handling the VIP section for well-established dancehall and American artists such as Sean Paul, Jeremiah and Kevin Little. Being able to associate with these global artists, not only did it really inspire me but also helped me capture great moments in order to write a visionary song. To be honest I believe that's the best way to capture a moment and write a great, inspiring song."

He continued: "My dream musically in the future would be to perform at the Wireless Festival, also to collaborate with more established artists as a rapper/producer.

"Also to get record label recognition and either get signed to WarnerBrothers Music, Sony BMG or Virgin."
