London has arguably the best music scene around, with thousands of talented musicians emerging every day, most of which are unsigned acts waiting for their big break.

Unsigned Friday brings you the very best unsigned music artists from around the capital, as well as giving these acts a platform to promote their music.

This week, getwestlondon's Emily Chudy caught up with Plymouth-based indie band The Poet Junkies.

The Poet Junkies describe their sound as a "musical fusion of indie mayhem!"

The four-piece comprise of; Brendan O'Neill (Vocals and Guitar), Thomas Archer (Guitar), Matt Xhapman (Bass) and Jon Blanchard (Drums). The band started in 2013, but the members have played music with other projects for years.

On their influences, The Poet Junkies said: "Anyone who wrote a good song, anyone who made an impact on the musical world, Elvis Presley, Bob Marley, Oasis, The Verve, Artic Monkeys even Mr. Blobby and The Crazy Frog!"

The Poet Junkies have released two EPs: Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained and One Of Those Days, and are currently working on a brand new EP.

The Poet Junkies said: "We are in the middle of working on it, there's no set date, we always try and make sure we step it up but when it's out it will be on iTunes, Amazon all the online stores and hard copies available through our online store and gigs!

"For anyone who hasn't heard us, we are on about every platform you could think of, if you want to hear us!"

The band have been played on BBC Radio and BBC Introducing... and have played around the country, including a sell-out show in London.

The Poet Junkies said: "We just love to create organised chaos with an audience and tell stories through the lyrics!

"We can see us doing as well as any other band at the minute with enough time and effort! We are forever working hard and we think we are onto something good!

"We would love for as much people as possible to hear our music!"

Music reviewer Sophia Sheridan said: "The band sound good and play well... They all play with talent and panache and pretty much rocked the joint."
