London has arguably the best music scene around, with thousands of talented musicians emerging every day, most of which are unsigned acts waiting for their big break.

Unsigned Friday brings you the very best unsigned music artists from around the capital, as well as giving these acts a platform to promote their music.

This week, getwestlondon's Emily Chudy caught up with indie/acoustic artist John Parry.

John Parry is an 18-year-old acoustic singer-songwriter from east London.

Parry began his musical career busking on the streets, but has quickly gained success, performing at Lovebox Festival in 2014.

Parry said: "I would put myself into the indie category but I haven't got enough synths to be indie.

"When I started I liked Ben Howard. Now I like a two-piece called Slaves. What they do and how they do it is awesome."

Parry has been playing as an acoustic act, but is beginning to work with other musicians, having recruited a bassist, drummer and backing singer for live shows.

Parry said: "I've been working with a bassist, she's like grade eight, she's awesome.

"We might have another guitarist soon."

Although he never had an interest in music as a child, and took up guitar in his teens, Parry already has a loyal fanbase, with over 1,400 likes on Facebook and 300 followers on Twitter.

He also won the XLP Arts Showcase in 2013.

Parry said: "I've always wanted to do a tour. I'm not fixated on being big or everyone knowing my name, but I've always wanted to do a tour from the get go. It's like a romantic thing in my head.

"Next year I'd hope to do a festival... In two years or three years I'll tour.

"Getting signed is the next step."

Parry has already released a single, Dirty (above) and his brand new single, Love Drunk Punch, comes out on Wednesday (August 12).
