London has arguably the best music scene around, with thousands of talented musicians emerging every day, most of which are unsigned acts waiting for their big break.

Unsigned Friday brings you the very best unsigned music artists from around the capital, as well as giving these acts a platform to promote their music.

This week, getwestlondon's Emily Chudy caught up with R&B/hip hop artist Jake Aldridge.

Aldridge came to learn how to rap and write poetry aged 11 after the tragic death of his father. He started performing with a friend and a £12 microphone as he began practising and recording music.

Presently, Aldridge has just released a single, Where Do We Go, which features guest vocals from Lisa Ambrose. The single is available to download for free on Soundcloud.

Aldridge said: "I see my sound as being very unique. I don't know of many rappers who are based outside of London and, since I'm from Suffolk, naturally my style and sound is very different.

"I guess I'm fusing R&B with hip hop but many people (including myself) struggle to categorise my songs. I see that as a good thing and always try to be different."

Another brand new single, Give You The World, is set for release on Sunday (August 2). The music video, which is being filmed in Spain, will be released on Sunday August 9.

Aldridge said: "I am heavily influenced by Tupac Shakur, who is someone I have always admired, not only for his music but for what he was about too. More than anything, I loved how real and honest he seemed to be.

"I try and portray that same honesty and vulnerability within my songs. I'm never too scared to turn myself inside out and to show people who I really am and how I'm really feeling."

Aldridge's music has been played on the likes of BBC Introducing and has a loyal fanbase all over the UK and abroad, with over 100,000 plays of his music online.

A music reviewer for Real4Music, about the single Where Do We Go, said: "One's curiosity whilst listening to the song shifts fluently between the music and the groove and also the story behind the song, which is a fantastic way to experience such a piece of art."
