THREE Harrow-based choirs are coming together to perform a concert of major choral works.

The performance by Stanmore Choral Society, Harrow Choral Society and Harrow Philharmonic Choir will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday, April 4, in St Albans Cathedral.

The trio hold a joint concert every three years and this year it is Stanmore's turn to select the programme and for its musical director, Nick Austin, to conduct.

Its members opted for Welsh composer Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man - A Mass For Peace, commissioned in 1999 for the Millennium celebrations, alongside Edward Elgar's The Music Makers, which was first performed in 1912.

Among the many voices in harmony, audience members will hear solos from Katherine Bond (soprano) and Catherine Hooper (mezzo soprano).
