Lazy Hammock and her band will be waking up The Elgin

Singer, songwriter and producer Lazy Hammock is taking time out from her busy schedule for a special one-off gig with an extra large band... her last live performance this year.

The artist, who is hauntingly similar in style to Sade, has put together a seven-piece band for the gig at The Elgin pub in Ladbrooke Grove on November 15... and it's free.

She writes and produces all her own material, blending chill-out, electronica, nu soul and reggae, and is putting the finishing touches to her fifth album, to be released in 2014.

She said; “I've been busy recording and remixing, since a series of live festival shows across Europe in the summer, and hadn't planned to do any gigs until next year. That seems a while off, and I have all these new songs, so thought if I am to go out live, I want to make it special.

“It can also be a solitary existence, producing music on your own. So it's great to get on stage with other musicians.”

The band normally play live as a five-piece, but Lazy has added a trumpeter and a backing singer.

“As this is a one-off of gig, I thought there's no point scaling it down. On my album, it's me who does all the music, but when we go out live, the music has a new dimension to it. And I believe it shows off my songs in the best light.”

As well as her own albums, Lazy Hammock's tracks have appeared on more than 400 compilations, including Ministry Of Sound, Sony and EMI and she has recorded with the likes of Jose Padilla (Café Del Mar), Asian Dub Foundation, Afterlife and MJ Cole.

In constant demand from other artists to remix and produce their tracks, Lazy was recently called in to work with the vocal coaches for the BBC show The Voice.

For the Elgin gig, Lazy will play tracks from the album she released earlier this year, Natural High, new material and a selection from previous albums.

Although the gig at 96 Ladbrooke Grove, Notting Hill, London, W11 1PY is free, it is recommended to contact to book a table or a reservation on 020 7229 5663.
