A dance music producer from Harrow is about to storm the charts again with yet another bassline banger of a club tune. Philip Owo, 26, is one half of duo Delinquent, along with Mike Panteli, 26, whose new single I Got U, featuring vocalist Kcat, will be released digitally on Monday, November 3.

The track is a follow-up to their top 20 hit My Destiny, which the act performed live at Harrow's Under One Sky festival this summer.

I Got U features skippy beats, a big bumpy bassline and sweet sing-a-long lyrics, so it is bound to go down a treat with ravers at local nightspots.

The floorfiller has been lapped up by clubbers in Ibiza, Ayia Napa, Zante and Kos this summer and has been played extensively on commercial radio stations including Choice FM, BBC's 1Xtra and Kiss FM.

With Philip unavailable to talk, Mike told the Observer: "It's like a bridge between My Destiny and when we launched our album next year.

"There was a demand for a new record and we have satisfied that demand."

Philip and Barnet-based Mike met at Barnet College where Mike admits they skipped lessons to go to his bedroom studio and write tracks.

The pair met singer-songwriter Kcat, 22, when she performed at the college during an inter-college competition and the collaboration was born.

Five years ago, the two gave up their full-time jobs - Philip worked in a library and Mike at a phone shop - to dedicate all their time to music.

Mike said: "As Delinquent, we started off producing R'n'B and we found it wasn't commercially successful and then we picked up on the garage scene and wanted a piece of it."

Delinquent began playing around with their technology and instruments and almost by accident came up with a distinct sound now known as 'bassline'.

It grew out of the ashes of the burgeoning garage scene and is now a whole genre in its own right.

Bassline gained a popular following at a Sheffield nightclub, Niche, and was launched into the national conscience by the commercial success of another track, Heartbreak by H20.

Mike said: "We were the first to produce bassline a few years back, before H20.

"There was a cluster of people who were involved in this scene from 2003-04 and a lot of our early tracks were played at Niche."

Philip and Mike originally released My Destiny on their own Spoilt Rotten imprint before it was signed by major dance label All Around The World.

The duo made some new material with Kcat and introduced their tracks to crowds during the public appearances they made at clubs across the country six months ago.

The reaction to I Got U made up their minds that it should be their next single.

"It's a much more catchy song and there's a sing-a-long factor," Mike explained.

"It's great to see the crowd singing along. It makes you feel that you're meant to be doing what you're doing."

This time, though, the duo are keeping I Got U on Spoilt Rotten and handling all the distribution deals, remix commissions, music video creation and promotion themselves - in keeping with their artist name, which smartly suits their independence and devilish, fun-loving nature.

But this point in the trio's career almost never arrived.

Mike explained: "In August, the week before the video shoot, all three of us were in the car and we were coming back from a gig and we had a very serious accident on the M25. We feel lucky to be here.

"It made us feel that we're doing the right thing. Now we're living the dream!"

* I Got U can be downloaded from iTunes from Monday, November 3, and is available as a mobile phone ringtone.
