Adam Ant will be performing his classic debut album Dirk Wears White Sox in it’s entirety at the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith next year.

The 1980s pop icon is appearing at the Apollo for one night only on Saturday 19 April 2014. His seminal album, recorded in 1979 has never been performed live before.

Its title Dirk Wears White Sox is a dedication to British film actor and '50's matinee idol, Dirk Bogarde. On its release the sound of the album was a big surprise to fans and media alike, in it's diversity and lyrical content which included subjects such as fetishism, art history, and historical figures, particularly Cleopatra and John F. Kennedy. The music was somewhat stark and dark, with post-punk riffs and syncopated beats, fused with funk and soul.

It gained a massive cult following and was the first number one album on the UK Independent Chart. Adam Ant wrote and produced the album and the collection of unique songs, which continue to influence and inspire.

Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Duff McKagan (Guns n' Roses), Shirley Manson (Garbage), Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and Justine Frischmann (Elastica) are several artists who site the album as a major influence.

After Adam's recent 'Sell Out' show at London's Roundhouse and a successful 44 date tour of the USA, Adam has decided to fulfill a personal ambition and perform his classic debut album for one night only, in it's entirety and track listing order.
