London has arguably the best music scene around, with thousands of talented musicians emerging every day, most of which are unsigned acts waiting for their big break.

Unsigned Friday brings you the very best unsigned music artists from around the capital, as well as giving these acts a platform to promote their music.

This week, getwestlondon 's Emily Chudy caught up with Southbank busker Emily Lee.

She works the crowd of Hanwell Hootie with immense ease and confidence, saying at the end of every set “I'm Emily Lee, like Bruce Lee... But Emily”.

She played an impressive two full-length sets, as well as a few songs in the 'Busking Bus'; the singer/songwriter is an expert in this field, busking full-time at Southbank, London.

“I've been doing it [busking] for about a year and a bit but I didn't do it properly until January," she said. "I wanted to get my music out there. I wasn't a very good performer at the start, but I began to get brave. It's made me a much better performer and much better at interacting.

“I've had so many strange experiences! I've had marriage proposals, people trying to swipe money out of my case. Most of the time, it's been really positive. Loads of kids dancing!”

As well as performing regularly, Emily has a manager and is looking to launch an EP, and then an album.

She said: “My EP is getting finished soon, at the moment I really want to push for a good EP launch. It's been a long time coming!”

Finally, I ask her, if she was on a desert island and only had three songs to listen to, what would she choose? She said: “Would I Lie to You by Charles and Eddie. It's not possible to get sick of that song. A Case of You by Joni Mitchell. And... You know what, Combichrist, This S**t Will F**k You Up. It's a great song!”

Upcoming shows in west London:

  • Emily Lee can be seen performing regularly at London's Southbank (closest tube station, Waterloo)
