The Prodigy have announced details of an eight-date UK tour.

They will play three dates at the O2 Brixton Academy on December 21, 22 and 23.

The electronic group revealed the news on Twitter, promising the debuting of new music.

Despite saying they would no longer be releasing studio albums, they confirmed on social media that a new single will be released in 2017 with an album following in 2018.

The group told their followers: "New single later this year! ,,then we droppin a new album on you early next year ! Ya hear me!".

They have signed a new deal with BMG which will see them release their follow up to 2015's "The Day Is My Enemy".

One of the Brixton Academy shows will be an all nighter on December 22 as it kicks off at 8pm and finishes at 3am.

Their upcoming live dates will see them play Plymouth, Glasgow, Doncaster, Manchester and Wolverhampton.

Tickets will go on general sale at 10am on Friday September 29.

Meanwhile an O2 presale will be available at 10am on Wednesday September 27 for priority members.
