The National have announced four London shows for this September.

They will perform at Hammersmith's Eventim Apollo on September 25-28.

It's part of a huge European tour which also visits Edinburgh and Manchester for the UK leg.

The announcement comes alongside the release of the first track from their upcoming seventh studio album 'Sleep Well Beast', which is due for release on September 7.

They debuted 'The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness' earlier this week with a video directed by software artist Casey Reas.

Since 2001 the band have produced critically acclaimed albums with four being considered amongst the greatest of all time in NME's 2013 list.

This year also sees them play a set at Worthy Farm as part of Glastonbury Festival .

When do tickets go on sale?

They go on general sale at 10am on Friday May 19.
