Mallory Knox are currently at the forefront of UK modern rock, with three albums under their belt and a reputation for electric live shows, 2017 looks to be their biggest year yet.

They are currently in the midst of their UK headline tour, with sold out shows in Sheffield and Edinburgh, off the back of the release of their third studio album.

It is their most concise and personal album to date dealing with personal struggles within the industry and its impact on mental health.

The current spring tour will conclude with two shows at KOKO in London on April 5 and 6.

Lead vocalist Mickey Chapman says: "We're absolutely looking forward to it.

"It's been quite a while for us locked away writing. It'll be good to get out and stretch our wings and do what we're supposed to."

With their third album 'Wired' released earlier this month it means new tracks added to the packed setlist including the refined and emotional 'Giving It Up'.

However it's hard for acts to decide what new material might translate successfully onto the live stage in front of an anticipating crowd.

Mickey says: "It is daunting but also exciting. You just don't know, there may be a massive confidence with the songs but you never know which ones will go down well."

It has been almost three years since the release of their second record but it seemed that the band needed a break from relentless touring to find inspiration to write again.

As Mickey says: "It allowed us to go away and decide how we want to portray ourselves.

"There was a lot of travelling and touring with the last record so it was much to do with going away and spending time to dictate lyrics and meaning in our songs.

"A lot of the writing [on Wired] gets to the point and we put that down to the time and this step forward allowed us to engage."

The group are also playing Reading and Leeds Festival for the third time in 2017, as well as plenty of European dates throughout the summer.

Mickey tells us: "It's all go. It always seems to be the way, these things pour out of the wood work when you're just doing your own thing."

They are also hoping to return to the US at some point after a successful leg on the Warped Tour in 2015.

On finding an audience in America Mickey says: "It's a completely different scenario out there.

"We were talking to people about group's like Manic Street Preachers and they'd never heard of them! It seems obvious but you don't realise how big it is."

"The music scene is very different to the UK. We're excited to get back."

However Mickey urges any passionate artists to take any opporunities. He says: "I think if you have the chance to create and write and put yourself out there and then to be able to record and tour it's phemonenal."

Returning after a long break and trying to recapture your audience can be a daunting prospect.

Mickey says: "It is a slightly different beast. We're not expecting anything having been away for a while.

"We will build back up our reasons for coming back on the next tour and set the tone for the next year to come.

"And that's what is exciting."
