Jeeps are a band which can take on many forms. Based around accomplished Uxbridge singer/songwriter Glen Strachan and Swedish multi instrumentalist Edvina Fahlqvist, Jeeps have taken on many forms over the years with transient musicians passing through.
This Friday (July 3) sees their latest incarnation return to the boards at The Crown and Treaty on Oxford Road, Uxbridge.
Glen's songs are always well constructed, expertly performed and quite often witty to a fault. Glen and Edvina have appeared on stages throughout Berlin, Stockholm, New York, as well as a live gig on my radio show some years ago.
It's always interesting and refreshing to hear their material but watch out for a surprising and left field cover version.
This is a sample of what you might expect.
Salt, also on the Friday bill at The Treaty, are an indie dance outfit from High Wycombe.
Musically speaking, Salt show a punked up Kings of Leon in parts with an English sounding Jim Morrison style vocal. Excitement and positive energy from start to finish render you physically and emotionally moved.
Comedy genius, music guru and king of controversy John Otway will be blowing the minds of the crowds at Tropic, Grosvenor Vale, Ruislip this Friday.
John is the antithesis of all that rock stardom portrays itself to be.
The only man to have made a startling yet modest career from failure, John has rocketed (some say plummeted) his way into the hearts of a certain age demographic who, like myself, can remember his performance with Wild Willy Barrett on The Old Grey Whistle Test way back in 1977 where John stood on an amp, fell off and made a date with history and destiny.
John then grasped this opportunity to cash in on buffoonery and make it a lifestyle choice. My absolute hero.
Entry to the Crown & Treaty is free before 10pm and £5 after.
