When Friday (August 7) arrives and you feel you want to go some place where it's FREE ENTRY and where you can shake to the beat and move your feet. Well, you may want to get yourself down to The Monarch on Chalk Farm Road, NW1.

There you will find a bunch of Harrow lads pounding the stage with a ska-laden array of well-crafted songs that'll induce an inability to remain motionless.

Feelgood Culture are about to hit London with a warm-up gig ahead of their landmark appearance at the Boomtown Festival the following week. These four guys (and occasionally two sax players) offer a unique brand of reggae and ska in that it has a distinct Celtic vein and lyrical depth permeating the majority of their set.

One song Birds On The Line is almost a ska sea shanty and an awesome cover of Thin Lizzy's Dancing In The Moonlight has been known to surface from their repertoire. Recently signed to the Yuck label and pulling up to 300 bods to their gigs, I'd say this is one group destined for greatness.

Support comes in the shape of I Am Aquitaine and doors open at 7pm.

Staying in the Camden area, on the same road in fact, are The Bloom Twins.

Ukrainian-born identical twin sisters Anya and Sonya are both exquisite singers and musicians who are due on stage at The Barfly at 10pm. Each well-versed in flutes, keyboards, harmonicas, and pitch perfect vocal harmonies, these talented ladies now have a very clever drummer backing them who even plays a wood saw live.

Their music is moody and mysterious at times but never dull. Check out their songs Blue and Fahrenheit and tell me I'm wrong. Their reworking of Pharrell Williams's Happy is almost in stark contrast with its title and gives new life to something that is grossly over aired.

Bloom Twins are on stage at 10pm and tickets are £5. They have promised a return to my Tuesday night radio show for a live sesh. This might be my opportunity to cash in my token.

Wanna stay local? Absolute soul legend Geno Washington is at Tropic in Grosvenor Vale, Ruislip, for just £12. So there you have it, no reasons to stay home. Enjoy.
