First off, I'd like to offer huge congratulations to the organisers of the Paul Fox Social Club whose memorial gig for the Ruts' guitarist on Saturday (October 3) went off with a bang.

Despite losing numbers to the rugby, they managed to raise over £2,000 for the Michael Sobell Hospice who looked after Foxy in his last days. Let's hope this isn't the last we'll be hearing of PFSC and these annual events continue.

All bands gave 100% entertaining the 200 strong crowd and word has reached me via various reliable sources that an act known as The Priscillas are ones to watch out for.

Two great local bands are venturing into London this Saturday (October 10) to play and I'm sure both would appreciate your support. First off are Jeeps, an Uxbridge trio consisting of Glen Strachan, Edvina Falqvist and Grant Salmon, who offer some well-written, quirky and catchy ditties that are kind of in the vein of a British modernised Pixies.

They're playing at The Good Ship in Kilburn and it's just £5 entry. Songwriter Glen and the guys have been working hard in the studio recording and rehearsing with new recruit Grant who has played drums for more bands than I care or even dare to think of in the Hillingdon borough. Here's a taster of what to expect from Jeeps.

Your fiver will give you access to four other acts on Saturday: Penny For The Workhouse, Ben Hemming, Concrete Disco and Gunner Who. Also on Saturday, the other Hillingdon hive of talent are the five-piece known as Faers. Supporting indie giants Menswear at The Garage, Highbury Corner.

Faers have a polished, English indie crispness to their music, which you can now buy on iTunes. Only recently they played a sold out gig at Camden's Barfly to mark their EP launch so if you missed out then catch them this Saturday October 10 at 11pm. Tickets are still on sale priced £5 and I'll be reviewing their EP in this column pretty soon.

Finally, there will be dulcet tones aplenty decorating the airwaves this coming Tuesday October 13 when the soulful fem folk duo Naz and Ella perform on my radio show. Tune in at 9pm to hear these Barnet based ladies bringing their musical wealth or experience for your pleasure. Try them out here.

Tune into HayesFM at 9pm on 91.8FM in London or globally on the web.
