Ed Sheeran has announced two O2 arena shows as part of his global world tour.

The singer songwriter will head to the capital for two shows on May 1 and 2.

The tour will be in support of his third studio album ÷ (divide) which will be released on March 3.

Its first two singles "Shape of You" and "Castle on the Hill "have been charting at numbers one and two across the globe including the UK, reaching streams of more than 370 million.

They will be his first London shows since 2015 when he became the first person to headline Wembley Stadium without a band, just him, his guitar and loop pedal played to 240,000 across three nights .

The "A Team" singer will kick off the world tour in Italy on March 17 before returning to the UK and Ireland for a 14-date run.

He will be playing for two nights in each city but extra dates are expected to be announced after he recently said he'll be touring throughout the year and into 2018.

When do tickets go on sale?

Tickets will go on general sale at 10am on Thursday February 2.

A presale will take place on Ed Sheeran's website on Tuesday January 31 at 10am.

How much are tickets?

They are priced between £44.80 and £77.80, plus a booking fee.
