"This is the best restaurant in the world," said top food critic Giles Coren, of The Times, after dining at Mac & Wild.
While getwestlondon wouldn't quite go that far, it does remain one of the finest restaurants I've had the pleasure of reviewing this year.
So I was particularly pleased when I discovered that the venue, which serves up game food from the Scottish Highlands, would be offering a Christmas menu.
Which makes total sense considering this Fitzrovia restaurant is one of the cosiest around, with candles and interior featuring black and white photos of the Highlands perfect for a winter evening.
From the Christmas menu, which charges £19 for two courses and £24 for three, my dining partner and I chose the Cured salmon and a board of wild boar and beef chips.
In typically methodical fashion, the salmon is served with beetroot, nasturtium, chive and yoghurt making for a hugely flavoursome starter.
Meanwhile the wild boar and beef chips offers a dry, strong taste that bodes well with the excellent can of Brewgooder Clean Water Lager (£4.95) I had.
You'd be hard pushed to find a stronger whiskey menu in London than that which is offered here at the Great Titchfield Street restaurant.
After taking time to gather the courage, I opted for single Port askaig (£16) which, at 50.4%, took a long time to finish but, after the sting, gave a delicious flavour.
The highlight of the night was Mac & Wild's Christmas burger, coming with buttermilk fried turkey, brie, cranberry, venison stuffing and truffled bread sauce.
A challenge to eat, given its height, but a delicious combination of flavours that leave you nothing less than totally full and satisfied.
It's not hard to understand why critics rave about Mac & Wild.
It has a spirit to it and a real pride in the food it serves, sourced from the Highlands and served immaculately well.
If you're looking for somewhere which offers a Christmas menu during this year's festivities, you'll be hard pushed to find somewhere better than Mac & Wild.
Getwestlondon gives Mac & Wild four stars out of five.
