Coincidentally, the extended pub hours on Saturday June 11 will coincide with the opening matches for England and Wales in football's Euro 2016 tournament .

England's match against Russia kicks off at 8pm, so fans are set to have extra time to celebrate - or drown their sorrows - once the final whistle has blown.

Pubs wishing to extend their opening hours for a one-off occasion normally need to apply to their local council for a temporary event notice, but in this case existing on-licence holders can stay open if they choose to.
