The Princess Victoria pub in Shepherd's Bush has been awarded London County Dining Pub of the Year by Good Pub Guide 2016.

The Good Pub Guide is now in its 34th year, and the 2016 edition was published by Ebury Press on Thursday (September 3).

Princess Victoria serves classic British dishes, including its much-favoured Sunday roast.

General manager Bo Ford, said: "We serve contemporary spins on classic British dishes. Alongside your staple Sunday roast and Scotch egg we'll serve Tempura soft shell crab and Pig's ears (actually inspired by head chef Matt Reuther's recent trip to San Sebastian).

"We're over the moon about the award. Matt's been working really hard in the kitchen and is producing food that we're proud of, and this award solidifies that.

"We've built up a good base of regular diners, including foodies such as Tom Parker Bowles, Rowley Leigh and Valentine Warner, which definitely helps us get recognised for the food we serve.

The pub opened in July 2008, winning Time Out Best Gastro Pub in September of the same year.

Ford added: "We use the highest quality produce from the very best producers - think Cumbrian beef, Tamworth pork and Paley Farm lamb. Matt also runs a traditional kitchen, curing and smoking fish and meat, home-making sausages and black pudding, and dry-aging steak to produce intensely-flavoured cuts - our 60 day aged is coming back on the menu in a couple of weeks.

"Whether you're after a good Sunday roast, something casual (a pint and some snacks) or a refined three course meal, we provide it. All while being child-friendly, accepting dogs, offering a 250 bin wine list and 49 gins.

"We've also got the cask marque now and have a small back garden that's great for the summer months."
