Beer lovers will be happy to know that you no longer have to shell out plane tickets to Munich to visit the world-famous Oktoberfest, as the beer festival is coming to west London this week!

From Wednesday August 10 to Sunday August 14, Acton Green in Ealing will play host to the fun German beer festival, which will treat locals to fresh beer, delicious food and a fabulous party.

Set up in a huge marquee with a capacity of 1,500 seats, the organisers expect 10,000 guests to attend this week and celebrate the 206th year of Oktoberfest worldwide, prompting the council to reassure residents that the event would not have a damaging effect on the area.

Event director Carsten Raun, who has organised successful Oktoberfest events in London since 2011, said: "For the first time ever, the German festival comes to Ealing for five days of fun, good mood and German food and beer.

"The mood at our event is as good as the one in Munich. One thing the British and the German have in common is the joy of life with a nice beer, so Oktoberfest is a perfect place to meet."

Guests are promised an authentic German-style Oktoberfest experience, so there will be an Oompa band performing live Schlager music every day.

The beer on offer, Bavarian Festbeer, is a true German beer, and to complement the drink guests will be treated to a delicious selection of German specialities, including Schnitzel (deep-fried pork cutlet), Prezel (twist-knot bread), Händel (grilled chicken) and Schweinebraten (roast pork), as well as vegetarian options.

On Sunday, a special cultural lunch will be prepared for families.

Staff at the event will also be dressed in traditional Bavarian costume, Lederhosen and Dirndls, which guests can also rent from a gift shop on site.

Mr Raun said: "I've always thought that west London would be an amazing place to bring an Oktoberfest.

"It's going to be amazing fun this year in London and we are already struggling to keep up demand for tickets."

General admission tickets to Oktoberfest start at £5.

VIP tickets cost from £42, and includes a guaranteed seat and prority VIP entrance and VIP toilets. In addition, the VIP tickets include 1.5 pints of FestBeer, one glass of Schlumberger Sekt, a VIP meal and dessert surprise, and a welcome snack.
