Tuesday (September 29) is known as International Coffee Day, and if you're in the mood for a hot drink, west London is the best place to be.

According to the Food Standards Agency database, west London contains more than three times the national average of big name coffee shops, with an average of 14.2 chain cafés for every 100,000 people living in the area.

Four of the country's biggest coffee shop brands: Costa Coffee, Caffe Nero, Starbucks and Pret A Manger all have many branches of their shops around the eight west and north-west London boroughs.

West London as a whole contains 91 Starbucks according to the FSA, as well as 77 Pret outlets, 63 Costa Coffees and 54 Caffe Neros, giving it a total of a whopping 285 big name outlets!

Westminster was in the lead by a mile, with the area holding 151 coffee shops out of the 2,397 of the four main chains across the whole of the UK!

Ealing, Harrow and Brent, however, contain less coffee shops than the average across the UK - so you'd better find a good independent café if you want to sip some caffeine today!
