New pizzeria, La Gatta, has opened in Fulham.

The restaurant will serve various different kinds of gourmet pizza, including a deep-fried pizza, a delicacy of Naples.

The owner of the restaurant, Luca La Gatta, said: "We chose Fulham because Fulham is like a new Little Italy.

"There are a lot of Italian people, a lot of French as well. It's a very good area."

The pizzeria uses unusual gourmet ingredients not usually found in a typical pizza, such as truffle oil, delicious cheeses, and smoked salt.

Luca said: "Everything comes fresh from Naples: the tomatoes, the mozzarella, everything.

"People can feel that, they can taste that."

When asked to sample the food, I ask for "Anything, as long as it's vegetarian." The owner presents me with a delicious array of mozzarella, artichoke, courgette, spinach and more! The dough is light and fluffy, and the ingredients and cheese taste so fresh. This kind of pizza tastes like it might even be good for you!

There are a range of pizzas on the menu, including deep fried pizza

About their famous deep-fried pizza, Luca said: "It's a traditional dish, in Naples. What we do,we fry them. The dough is the same, we just deep-fry them.

"Everything you fry is more delicious! We try to use very good oil, in order to have a light taste.

"It's becoming very popular here in London!"

The style of the restaurant's interior is very industrial and stripped-back, with a giant mirror decorated with positive thoughts. There is also a room downstairs available to hire for private parties and an outdoor space.

Luca said: "This place is very cosy and familiar, real Italian. We make people feel comfortable, like we do in Italy!"

In the future, La Gatta aims to start pizza-making classes for locals who would like to learn, and perhaps open a further branch in Hammersmith or Shepherd's Bush.
