Now, in my opinion, Italian food is the best in the world so any chance I get to visit a restaurant with food from that wonderful country is one I relish.

Goat in Chelsea, is no different. It is a vibrant Italian restaurant serving good food at reasonable prices for the area and has a cocktail bar upstairs with a great array of choices.

Antipasti is always one of my favourites and the one available here was superb, consisting of san daniele ham, bresaola, pomodori socchi, rocket, grilled vegetables, olives, pecorno and pane carasau.

Antipasti

My friend, on the other hand, tried parmesan polenta fries which also had orange, aperol and truffled mayo, which was an interesting take on chips and the cheese flavour was perfect.

Pizza was our dish of choice for the main course. I opted for the one topped with pepperoni, ‘nduja, oregano and mozzarella.

Pizza

I’ve had many a pizza in this country but this was up there with the best I’ve had and my friend, who ordered one topped with gorgonzola, mushroom, Italian sasusage and truffle oil, agreed.

It was baked with great care in a traditional pizza oven and the mix of flavours and spices was divine.

For dessert, it was the gelato sundae with chocolate, pistachio, vanilla and caramel. After a spicy pizza, it was the perfect sweet to cool the palette.

Gelato Sundae

My friend chose the sticky toffee pudding with a vanilla gelato. Much attention was put into the presentation and it was excellent.

With the food eaten and a bottle of house rose wine consumed it was time to sample the cocktail bar upstairs.

The choice on offer was excellent but we both loved the idea of Jamaican Me Crazy, which consisted of wray n nephews, barcelo rum, coconut rum, lime, passion fruit, absinthe, almond, angostura and ginger beer.

It was wonderfully put together and the taste was excellent with the flavours dancing on the tastebuds after each sip. It was a brilliant end to a fantastic meal.

Jamaican Me Crazy

Would I go again? Yes, it’s the perfect place to visit if you want to treat the other half to a nice Italian or celebrate a birthday with friends.
