Foodies can get a taste of the upcoming snap election with a themed political party menu at The Tea Terrace.

The restaurant and tea room chain, which has two branches in London in Victoria and Oxford Street, has launched five dishes inspired by the political parties competing in the general election.

Ehab Shouly, director of The Tea Terrace, said: "We are aware many people in the country are tired of elections, and that's a discussion we've heard many of our customers have following Mrs May's announcement.

"We wanted to lighten the mood a little bit for our customers."

There is the Theresa Maple and carrot Soup

The director joked he hopes to get a feel of the way people will vote during the general election by keeping track of which of the dishes on the menu are ordered the most.

"It's not scientific but perhaps it will shed some light on the outcome," he said.

According to the menu, the five dishes in The Tea Terrace's UK General Elections menu are as follows:

Starter

Theresa Maple and Carrot Soup

Soup-er Trouper

The Theresa Maple and Carrot Soup is described as a "delicious and creamy" soup made with pureed carrots and maple syrup.

Mains

Jeremy Corbynara

Get a taste of Jeremy Corbyn with a Carbonara dish

The Corbynara is not a labour-intensive pasta but made with spaghetti, fresh cream and bacon.

Liberal Democrabs Linguine

Linguine

The linguine is a comforting dish of creamy pasta "liberally" sprinkled with chunks of white crab meat with peas and cherry tomatoes.

U-Kipper Risotto.

A Mediterranean vegetable risotto topped with flakes of smoked kippers.

Dessert

Paul Nuttalla and Banana Crepe.

A UKIP twist on the beloved classic.
