An Isleworth ice cream parlour famed for its wacky creations has challenged customers to invent their own flavour for spring.

South Street Coffee & Ice Cream Shop has been tantalising local tastebuds with leftfield varieties like avocado and lime, beetroot and eggnog since opening in 2012.

Such is its popularity, it expanded last September to a second premises nearby where its frozen masterpieces are created alongside a workshop in which local artists can showcase and sell their wares.

Its Christmas temptations included panettone & custard and amaretti & amaretto, and it has also teamed up with a Thai restaurant to produce a new range of eastern influenced delights, including lemongrass sorbet and Thai sticky rice ice cream.

But staff are struggling for new ideas as they compile their spring menu and they have now invited you to come up with your own flavour combinations.

General manager Janine Cording said: "We've already come up with some ideas like apricot crumble, palma violet and Earl Grey sorbet, but we're looking for something seasonal, unusual and delicious to be our signature taste sensation for the next few months.

"Last time we had a competition like this we received 250 entries and it really captured the local imagination, so we're hoping for a similar response. The winning entry back then was chocolate, orange and ginger."

To take part in the competition, simply fill in one of the entry forms available at the cafe in South Street or the gift shop in Lower Square. The winner will receive a 'half napoli' (2.5 litres) of their new flavour.

Entries are limited to one per person and the judge's decision, due to be announced on February 14, is final.
