Wembley Stadium's new Zip-Wire Experience and tour is now open to the public!
From now until Wednesday August 26, daily, you can fly over Wembley Stadium at speeds of more than 25mph as part of a guided tour experience.
Visitors will be launched from the top-tier of the stadium and fly diagonally 200m across the pitch, in an experience that takes from 20-30 seconds.
The zip-wire follows a one-hour guided tour of the dressing rooms, players' tunnel, the pristine lawn, and more. Visitors can even stand in the dug out and shout "Hello Wembley" to a very echoey stadium!
The tour includes access to Wembley's historical artefacts, such as the 1966 World Cup crossbar, the Jules Rimet Trophy commemorating England's World Cup glory, the original flag from London's 1948 Olympic Games and more.
Visitors can choose to experience the tour, the zip-wire or both.
In order to properly understand the experience, getwestlondon's (petrified of heights) Emily Chudy gave the zip-wire a go, feeling very much akin to an ungainly Bridget Jones during the film's "fireman's pole-sliding" scene. Thankfully, despite being incredibly high up, the experience was pretty magical.
After walking up to the dizzying top-tier, instructors safely strap you into your tight harness and brief you on the experience, before you launch off the stadium. As well as an adrenaline rush, you also experience the spectacular views of the eerily-quiet Wembley Stadium, which has held many famous faces.
Though the wire takes over 20 seconds to cross, it feels more like three, and I'm oddly desperate to try it again!
Visitors to the experience should wear comfortable clothes, like leggings, and must fill in a safety form before experiencing the zip-wire.
