A FIRST performance and piece written especially for the Ealing Symphony Orchestra makes its debut tomorrow.

John Rhys's Intrada is expected to wow audiences when it headlines a superb concert including a virtuoso display of Alexander Arutiunian's Trumpet Concerto and a bonus movement from Dvorak's Op. 44 Serenade.

A rendition of Tchaikovsky's little-known masterpiece Manfred Symphony rounds off the evening.

ONE of the best craft shows of its kind opens in Richmond just in time for Christmas.

The annual Art and Contemporary Designer Craft Show, at the Queen Charlotte Hall, is being staged by Craft In Focus.

An exciting alternative to traditional Christmas shopping, the show offers gifts of quality rarely seen on the high street. It is also possible to commission bespoke pieces.

All of the exhibitors have designed and made the work they display. Work includes ceramics, furniture, knitwear, glassware, clothes and accessories, jewellery, pewterware and sculpture.

Quick wit and lightning laughs at The Rocket

POPULAR Inder Manocha, who has performed stand-up comedy all over the world, is making a guest appearance at The Rocket pub in Acton on Tuesday.

Inder has played all the major comedy venues across the country, from the Comedy Store to Jongleurs to the Hackney Empire.

He has made successful appearances with the Comedy Store's critically acclaimed Cutting Edge team, and in 2004 he won the EMMA Award (Ethnic Multicultural Media Award) for Best Comedy/Comedian, beating Meera Syal, Lenny Henry and Three Non-Blondes.

The Rocket recently launched the The Rocket Comedy Try Outs, a new act night which is open to anybody who wants to perform.

Up to 16 acts take to the stage, some for the very first time.The night is hosted by resident compere Gema Kaye and is free for all.

Catch Will Young at the Hammersmith Apollo this weekend

WILL Young is stopping at the Hammersmith Apollo for two nights during his whistle-stop tour of the United Kingdom.

The singer, who has rapidly become a force to be reckoned with, is supported by the country-blues, southern soul band Phantom Limb. They released their special edition album, Phantom Limb, last week.

The album is full of easy listening tracks with powerful, gospel-type vocals by lead Yolanda Quartey.

If you can't make this weekend there's still a chance for some great music from Rodrigo y Gabriela, who are performing on Monday.

The duo, originally from Mexico and now living in Dublin, are receiving more and more critical acclaim as their careers progress.
