ONE: Have a go at BMX racing

DARE to try something adventurous and it could be the first steps to an Olympic medal.

As seen in Beijing last summer, BMX racing is now an Olympic sport, and the Hayes Hawks are one of the top teams in the country.

To encourage the next generation of riders they are holding an open day for youngsters of all abilities, to find out whether BMX is something they could get into, with an exciting variety of riding tests.

TWO: Motown melodies

AS PART of Hillingdon Arts Week, Theatrical Motown is hoping to steal the show.

For one night only, The Melodettes will perform, showcasing local talent on the 50th anniversary of the legendary Motown music label.

THREE: Antiques Fair

THIS fair is a must for collectors and anyone looking for a special piece of antique furniture.

With prices ranging from £30-£30,000 the fair will appeal to connoisseurs and first-time buyers alike.

An unusual display of rare medical and scientific instruments will be a major attraction, including a doctor's leather medicine case from the 1920s, with 48 bottles of various pills.

FOUR: Entertainment for all the family

NATIONAL Family Week continues at The Chimes shopping centre in Uxbridge High Street this week, with a fun and games day taking place on Saturday.

The activity and sports day is for families with children of all ages to get stuck in and have fun.

FIVE: Women's a cappella group

IF YOU are the next Susan Boyle but the world has not discovered you yet, this vocal harmony workshop could be just the ticket.

Capital Connection is a women's a cappella chorus and they are holding a workshop evening to attract new members.

Anyone who has sung in the past and wants to get back into it may well enjoy being part of a large group of singers, as might those wishing to build their confidence.
