We've bought the TV listings and checked them twice but Elf is nowhere to be seen this Christmas and aside from being positively outraged we need answers.

The festive favourite starring Will Ferrel as Buddy will not be on the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 or even Sky Movies, Netlfix or Amazon Prime.

Last year Christmas Sky showed the film but unfortunately they don't have the rights for it this Christmas.

Tweeting "Unfortunately the studio hasn't given us the rights to Elf this year. Apologies."

But another on demand service has swooped in and saved the day all in the name of festive cheer.

TalkTalk TV bosses have confirmed they will be showing the movie this side of Christmas.

A spokesperson said: "Given the obvious love for the film, and the fact that for many of us watching Elf marks the pinnacle of the festive season, TalkTalk is stepping in to help save Christmas. "

The movie follows Buddy (Will Ferrel) a human bought up by Santa and his little helpers in the North Pole.

After finding out he was adopted the endearing character sets off for New York to meet his father Waler (played by James Caan).
