Brent's cinematic heritage will be displayed in an upcoming special screening showcase thanks to London: A Bigger Picture.

On Friday (April 17), at 2pm, at the Lexi Cinema (NW10 3JU), London: A Bigger Picture presents a free screening of films featruing Brent.

The screening will include submissions from residents as well as archived footage.

A film archivist from London’s Screen Archives will introduce the films, explaining how the films fit into Brent’s history and reveal more about the rich shared past they represent.

Adrian Wootton, chief executive of Film London and the British Film Commission, said: “We are delighted to be launching London: A Bigger Picture in Brent.

“This is a call to arms, we want to reach as many local people as possible to get them to engage with archive film and donate their home videos.

"I urge the people of Brent to get involved and unearth their hidden gems so we can build and share a comprehensive picture of London on film.”

London: A Bigger Picture is a three-year project from Film London’s London Screen Archives, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund with support from the British Film Institute.

The project provides a unique opportunity for people in London to see and learn about historic film of their areas, sharing their own memories and donating their own home movie records.
