Dominic Cooper and Derek Jacobi were in Brentford this week to film a new action movie.

Cooper plays the title role in Stratton, which was being filmed on Lot's Ait, an island in the Thames at Brentford, on Monday (September 7) and Tuesday (September 8).

The island, where John's Boat Yard is located, was used to shoot scenes at Special Forces agent John Stratton's houseboat and that of his best friend and mentor Ross (Jacobi) next door.

The two-day shoot at the location just off Brentford High Street marked the end of filming for the movie, which is scheduled for release next year.

The picture is adapted from the first book in the eight-part Stratton series written by Duncan Falconer, himself an ex-Special Boat Service commando.

Lot's Ait, Brentford, where scenes for the action movie Stratton, starring Dominic Cooper, were being shot

Cooper, who played Howard Stark in Captain America: The First Avenger, stars in Stratton as the titular SBS agent with a "lethal reputation" who is called in to help break down an international terrorist cell.

Assistant location manager Ross Monaghan told getwestlondon: "This is a brilliant spot which is full of charm, and we're grateful to the residents of Lot's Ait for letting us do a couple of days' filming here."

Cooper reportedly took over the lead role after Henry Cavill pulled out a week before shooting was due to begin, citing "creative differences".

As well as Cooper and Jacobi, the cast includes Gemma Chan, recently seen in Channel 4 drama Humans - some scenes of which were filmed at Alec Reed Academy in Northolt - as Aggy.
