Youngsters are being encouraged to take part in this year’s Notting Hill Carnival.
It is one of two programmes being run by Colville School, in North Kensington, ahead of the carnival, which takes place on August 30 and 31.
The primary school is also running a carnival arts holiday camp in July giving youngsters the chance to make costumes, flags and T-shirts.
The band start rehearsing at the Lonsdale Road school on June 13 from 2pm-4pm each week until July 18, and follows last years’ success which had crowds dancing and admiring their eye-catching costumes.
The carnival arts holiday camp workshops take place between July 20-24 from 10am-3pm for young people aged eight to 18.
Anyone can come along to band practice or the holiday workshop. Musical skills are not required but enthusiasm is always welcome.
Jagdeep Birdi, Head of Colville School, said: “The Kensington & Chelsea Schools Carnival Band is great fun and I know the children who have taken part in the past have really enjoyed the experience.
“Not many performers get the chance to play for an audience of 500,000 so I’d encourage any parent to find out more about what we can offer.”
