A huge picnic event for friends and neighbours will take place in Ealing's Walpole Park this summer.

The Big Lunch is UK’s annual lunch-together encouraging people in the same community to spend quality time outdoors getting to know one another better.

As part of the celebrations in Walpole Park on Sunday June 7, a Brazilian chef in residence, Roberta Siao, will be cooking up delicious taster plates for people to try.

There will also be lots of stalls and fun vegetable-themed activities for children to get involved in, as well as live performances from a Samba band.

The Big Lunch will start at 11am and run until 4pm.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for transport, environment and leisure, said: “What a great way to start the summer. This is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to come and enjoy the transformational benefits the £5m investment has brought to this much loved park.

"This is going to be a sizzling event with a great atmosphere, so get it in your diary now to enjoy some great family fun.”

All events are free and residents are encouraged to bring food, drink, friends and family and get involved.
