Olympic medalist Roger Black has been announced as an ambassador of GoFest 2017.

The retired 400m sprinter from Guildford will not only play a key role at the third festival of sport, dance and fitness , he will once again take his twin boys to the event to enjoy it as a family.

Held over the bank holiday weekend, May 28 and 29 at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford , Roger got involved with the festival right at the start when GoFest founder Paul Farris, a dad at the same school as his kids, discussed it with him.

The festival is an opportunity to have a go at a range of different activities - no matter what your ability.

From classic sports such as squash, gymnastics and basketball, to the more unusual activities such as scuba diving, free running and thumpboxing, there will be something to suit all tastes and ages.

Hampshire born Roger, who now works as a motivational speaker, said he was looking forward to getting involved to raise the profile.

He said: "To have so many different sports that you can try over a couple of days for the whole family is something really special and it is a special event and I am really happy to be involved."

He has booked his 11-year-old sons into a number of sessions including paddleboarding and dodgeball.

"Some things we book, some things on the spur of the moment you just join in," he added.

"And that's the great thing about GoFest, you get to try sports that you wouldn't normally get to try and that is nice as a parent to see my kids do that."

Roger will be at the sports park both days to hold a sprinting masterclass.
