Everything you need to know about getting hold of a FREE Odeon cinema ticket this summer

Love taking selfies, love going to the cinema? This could be just for you.

Odeon is giving away up to 1,000 free tickets this August to anyone who takes a selfie at one of 50 iconic film locations in the UK and Ireland, to enjoy a film of their choice.

The cinema chain which has sites in Kingston, Putney, Richmond, Uxbridge and Wimbledon , found that film fans cannot recognise 78% of film scenes shot in the UK and Ireland as being filmed on home soil.

Guardians of the Galaxy is the most surprising film to be shot in the British Isles, with 95% failing to identify some of the intergalactic scenes were captured on London’s Millennium Bridge.

The epic opening battle scene of Ridley Scott's Gladiator, which was shot in Surrey, was thought to have taken place on foreign shores with film fans citing Greece (31%), Italy (25%) and Malta (24%) as the most likely locations.

Furthermore, 9 in 10 (92%) of those polled were surprised to learn that the classic airport scene at the end of Love Actually was actually filmed nowhere near an airport – but at Epsom Racecourse in Surrey.

More than half (54%) thought this was shot at Heathrow, with a third believing this was Luton Airport (33%).
