BBC sports broadcaster Clare Balding has been pinned down to open the popular Super Saturday of Sport festival in Chiswick.

The presenter will also take her place on the starting line to get the mascot race underway at the free sporting spectacular which is due to create a massive buzz at Turnham Green on July 16.

Things will kick-off at 11am and 500 medals are up for grabs for early birds as dozens of fun activities and games get underway including ultimate frisbee; jiu jitsu; freerunning; slackilining; netball; wall climbing and tai chi as well as the usual suspects football, rugby, golf and cricket.

New to this year’s event are traditional sports day races for all the family such as the sack race; three-legged race and egg and spoon race, and a new chill out lounge area where talks on health and mental wellbeing will be held from experts.

Covering mindfulness will be Dr Caroline Hoffman speaking then leading a workshop as well as freerunning pioneer Sebastien Foucan who will talk about movement for the mind and body and there will be free mocktails and massages inside the chill out zone.

Last month, watch as thousands of people of all ages descended on Feltham Park for its annual Super Saturday of Sport.

Following the success of previous years, and overcoming the issue of funding after Hounslow council pulled out of this year’s sporting event , organiser Kirsten Lonsdale teamed up with developers Lend Lease and is hopeful for another great turnout.

The company is further backing Mrs Lonsdale’s ambitions to spread the sports festival across London in 2017.

Super Saturday of Sport will be held in Turnham Green, Chiswick from 11am to 4pm on Saturday July 16.
