The Crystal Maze is making a television comeback with Hammersmith comedian Richard Ayoade as the host.

Channel 4 has announced 20 episodes of the popular gameshow have been commissioned after the one off which was aired last year in aid of charity.

Viewers can expect some celebrity guest appearances for special episodes raising money for Stand Up To Cancer.

A brand new purpose built dome will be built in Bristol for the filming, created by the original designer James Dillon.

Tom Beck, head of live and rvents at Channel 4 said: "The Stand Up To Cancer special was so brilliant and so successful that commissioning a series of The Crystal Maze was almost a no-brainer.

"And I couldn't be more pleased and excited that Richard has agreed to become the new Maze Master - he's an inspired choice."
