TV comedy stars Lee Mack and Jo Brand hope laughs will be academic at the launch of Brunel University's Centre for Comedy Studies Research (CCSR).

The pair will discuss the industry with academics and writers in the field on Wednesday, October 9 at the Antonin Artaud Theatre on campus, when the CCSR, which will be devoted to the study of the art and science of making people laugh, is to be unveiled.

It will cover stand-up comedy, literature, clowning, television comedy and the joking and humour that is used in daily life, and will be part of the university's department of sociology and communications.

The event runs from 2.30-7.30pm and the public is invited. Email comedy.studies@brunel.ac.uk, or visit eventbrite.co.uk/event/4144901512/mcivte to get a ticket.
