DOLLIS Hill Art Group's summer show has opened at the The Stables Gallery and Arts Centre, where members meet each week.

Around 50 pieces - comprising watercolours, oils and mixed media works - are on display until Sunday, September 7, as part of the free annual show that has taken place for at least the last 25 years.

Secretary Thelma Doyle says the 20-strong collective produces a range of art from abstract paintings through still life images to collages.

Twelve members have hung work at the venue, in Gladstone Park, Dollis Hill Lane, in Dollis Hill, and most of the offerings are up for sale, with prices starting at £10.

Thelma says: "We have had really good feedback. There is a visitors' book and some of the comments have been: 'Amazing work' and 'Really good display for a small club'."

Dollis Hill Art Group meets on Friday nights at the gallery between 7.45pm and 10pm with those attending working on a themed piece in their chosen medium.

New members - who do not have to live in Dollis Hill - are welcome. Membership costs £15 a year with each

Friday workshop attended being an extra 50p.

* The Stables Art Gallery and Arts Centre is open between 11am and 5pm, Thursday to Sunday, and admission is free. The venue is near the Dollis Hill Tube station on the Jubilee line.
