Budding authors should make their way to Hillingdon this week, to join in with the final three events hosted by the council as part of their Culture Bite Festival.

Hillingdon Council is inviting all budding and talented writers to come along to the events hosted by top publishers Simon & Schuster, on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October.

Friday will see the Winston Churchill Theatre feature top authors Jane Costello, Andy Jones and Paige Toon, in conversation with Claire Hey from Simon & Schuster.

Talented writers will have a chance to hear from Claire, who is the Fiction Editorial Director at Books and the City for Simon & Schuster UK.

The authors will be discussing how they write their books, what it takes to become a professional author and how they manage their time as full time writers.

Sara-Jade Virtue, Head of Special Sales at Simon & Schuster, said: “As a born and bred Ruislip-er, I’m delighted to be able to bring our Girls on Tour Events to Hillingdon Libraries to help them celebrate their Culture Bite festival.

“We’ve got a cracking line up of 8 of our best-selling authors coming and we are offering something for everyone, with great goody bags to give away to everyone who attends. So do come along and join us.”

Afternoon Tea is the second event at the Great Barn, Manor Farm Site and it will feature Sandra Howard, Milly Johnson and Iona Grey in conversation with Claire Hey talking about their latest books and what motivates them to write.

Everyone can enjoy tea, scones and a glass of bubbly at the same time.

Cllr Douglas Mills , Cabinet Member for Community, Commerce and Regeneration, said: “These final three events for Culture Bite this year are a fantastic way for aspiring authors to learn about their profession from one of the best publishers in the world.

“Whether you want to hear your favourite author speak, understand the editorial process or get to the heart of what makes a book a bestseller in the writing masterclass, these are definitely amazing opportunities to find out.”

The final event will feature Simon & Schuster running a Writing Masterclass at Uxbridge Library on Saturday 31st October between 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Tickets for the Girls on Tour events are £7 and include a fantastic goody bag with a free book from Simon & Schuster.
