From Wednesday (June 24) to October 24, Bend It Like Beckham: The Musical is coming to The Phoenix Theatre in Soho.

The musical is based on the award-winning 2002 film, directed by Gurinder Chadha, which was shot in various locations around west London, including Hounslow and Southall.

The musical sees football-crazy Jess (played by Natalie Dew) navigate her strict family to play footie alongside her friend Jules (played by Lauren Samuels) with the Harriers, a local women's team... But will her family get in the way of her footie dream, and her gorgeous coach Joe (played by Hollywood star Jamie Campbell-Bower)?

A spokesman for the musical said: "Bend It Like Beckham is a joyous new British musical about where we are now.

"Featuring an original score with a Punjabi kick, it brings a unique cultural fusion of musical theatre to the stage for the first time.

"This re-imagining of the much-loved hit film sees generations, cultures and communities brought together in this joyous and uplifting story about bending the rules and scoring that deciding goal."

Tickets cost from £15.00 to £69.50. For more information, head to the official website, like the musical on Facebook, or follow on Twitter @benditmusical.
