Club president Cameron Paul admits Milford Marlins will provide the toughest test yet for his fledgling South West London Chargers side.
Chargers have drawn the Yorkshire side at home in the second round of the Tetley's Challenge Cup, which will take place at Chiswick RFC tomorrow (Saturday) at 2pm.
The Marlins play in RFL National Conference League Division One, four levels above he Chargers, who ply their trade in the Rugby League Conference South Premier.
While Chargers were only formed two years ago as a merger between West London Sharks and South London Storm, the Marlins have a rich history, including winning the prestigious BARLA National Cup in 1978.
Paul said: “Milford have a lot of experience in the Challenge Cup, playing in each one since at least 2006, and with a past that also includes a BARLA National Cup win, there is no doubt that this will be the biggest test yet for our young club.
“We are hoping the London rugby league community comes out in force again to witness the Chargers bring Challenge Cup rugby to London. As in round one, entrance will be free, and the clubhouse bar will be fully stocked, so come down and support your local club as we continue our march towards Wembley!”
Chargers qualified for the Challenge Cup after a stunning first season in which they won the Southern Premier title as well as the Harry Jepson Trophy, and they knocked Welsh champions Torfaen Tigers out in the first round.
