Harlequins boss Conor O'Shea expects the battle for the Premiership play-off places to go right down to the last knockings.

While top two Northampton and Saracens look to have secured their places, only six points separate Bath, Leicester, Quins and Sale in the bun fight for third and fourth.

With six games left, Quins sit just outside the party in fifth ahead of their return to action following a three-week lay off with a humdinger of a clash against Saracens at Wembley tomorrow.

O'Shea said: “It will go right down to the wire. You'd love to be where Northampton or Saracens are, but you have to win games to be there. This team is hell bent on achieving things though, and we will be a dangerous team to play against if we get into the top four.

“We want to be in that top four every year. You expect to have expectations when you want to be the best, and we have to live with that. But there is a heck of a lot more to come from this group, we haven't even started yet.

“It would be an incredible achievement with the adversity we have faced this year, with injuries and availabilities. But if you don't face challenge and adversity it's not sport, and it has meant we've blooded a lot of young guys a couple of months ahead of where they are.”

Three of Quins' England quartet who performed so brilliantly during the Six Nations – Chris Robshaw, Mike Brown and Danny Care – will be rested this weekend, but new dad Joe Marler will be available after missing the Championship decider to be with his family.

O'Shea added: “I think they have done brilliantly and I'm delighted for them on a personal level. We haven't seen them for two months. Physically, they are great, but we want them mentally sharp for what will be a tough run in.”
