Wings David Howells and Owen Bruynseels both scored a brace of tries as Ealing Trailfinders ran riot in their latest league fixture - scoring nine tries in a 55-0 thrashing of Barking at Vallis Way on Saturday.

The win puts Ealing on top of National Three South and extends their hugely promising unbeaten start to the season.

Howells put Ealing ahead, breaking through two tackles on the right to score his first try of the game. Ben Ward, Ealing's fly-half, converted.

Only three minutes later, Bruynseels beat his opposite man on the outside after quick hands left him in space. Again Ward was on target from the touch line.

Ward then added a try to his personal tally, switching the point of attack to wrong foot the Barking defence and cross in the corner.

The visitors had no answer for Ealing's pace and offloads from the tackle and were lucky not to fall further behind when Howells spilled the ball with the line at his mercy.

But Howells soon made up for his miss after centre Neville Edwards drove into the Barking 22 and quick ball gave the Ealing winger time to score in the right corner.

Ward's touchline conversion made it 26-0 after 35 minutes and then the provider turned scorer when Edwards finished off a sustained attack from an Ealing lineout on the Barking 10m line to put Ealing 31-0 up at the break.

Bruynseels dived over after only five minutes of the second half to score his second try, rounding off a flowing Ealing move. But Barking showed resolve to restrict the home side for most of the third quarter.

Scrum-half Dan Smaje took advantage from a quick tap penalty to scamper over for Ealing's seventh try that Ward converted again from the touch line.

Finally Barking managed to maintain possession enough to threaten the Ealing line.

A clever kick through gave Barking wing Tevale Kwilmbe a sniff of a score, but Ward was aware to the opportunity and snuffed out the chance.

Ealing, however, were not done and after Barking second row Warren Stevenson had been sinbinned, replacement hooker Dinos Alexipoulos barged his way over close to the posts as Ealing's forwards took full advantage of the extra man.

Jay King also profited as the Barking scrum disintegrated on its own line, falling on a loose ball to complete the scoring.

This weekend Ealing travel to Havant.
