HERTS/MIDDX DIVISION THREE Old Tottonians 18 St Nicholas Old Boys 12

A late try left St Nicholas Old Boys in a mood that mirrored the miserable conditions as they slipped to a painful 18-12 defeat away to bottom side Old Tottonians.

SNOBs led for much of the game after scoring early on through Rolan Tissink but they were unable to hold on playing into the wind and up the slope in North London.

The win was the home side's first of the season while SNOBs were left marooned in mid-table.

Saints started well when centre Tissink crossed the line and scrum half Barry Hall added the conversion to give the visitors a 7-0 lead, although powerful running by the Tottonians pack and good passing among the backs saw them draw level minutes later.

Both teams struggled in the windy and rainy conditions, conceding a number of unforced errors throughout the half before SNOBs took the initiative with a quick throw at a line-out and Tissink got over in the corner for his second try of the game.

Hall was unable to add the extra points but SNOBs did lead 12-7 going into the break.

Tottonians made good use of the conditions in the second half, forcing Saints to concede a penalty and a successful kick in difficult conditions reduced the deficit to 12-10, before another kick took the hosts in front for the first time in the afternoon.

SNOBs had chances to put the game out of reach but they failed to take any and paid the price when the opposition No 8 stormed over from close range in the final minutes.
