Conor O'Shea has urged Harlequins' departing heroes to say goodbye to The Stoop in style on Saturday.

The likes of Tom Guest, Mo Fa'asavalu and Sam Smith will, among others, be playing their last home game for the club when Bath arrive for a a winner-takes-all showdown.

If all goes well, the trio's stay could be extended to a play-off semi-final at Saracens and a final at Twickenham.

Bath are currently three points ahead of Quins in the race for the fourth and final berth, meaning nothing less than a win will do for O'Shea's men.

Departing: Tom Guest is off to London Irish

The director of rugby said: “It will be a day of farewells for some players, but we don't want to talk about goodbyes. Hopefully we've got another three weeks of rugby.

“But if it does end up being their goodbye, you only have to look at Gonzalo Camacho's last contribution in a Harlequins shirt, which was the winning try in an Amlin Cup final, so hopefully they will be looking to emulate that.

“It will effectively be a play-off quarter final, but we've been playing games like that for the past month. But we like cup rugby and the kind of environment it brings. If you look at the club's history, we have always been more of a cup team as opposed to a league team.

“Bath are an outstanding side, so it will be tough, but one thing is for sure – these players won't die wondering what might have been. We are also unbeaten in the league at home since September.”

He's off: Sam Smith will join Worcester this summer

Quins set up the do or die clash with a dramatic 30-29 win at Exeter on Sunday, where they came back from 23-5 down five minutes after half time to secure victory.

O'Shea added: “Sunday was quite literally our whole season encapsulated in one game. We have experienced so many highs and lows, but the confidence and self belief we now have is borne out of those challenges.

“When we conceded that try just after half time, some teams would have said 'that's it', but we kept on playing. Whatever happens on Saturday, these players deserve huge credit, but it is not time for reflection just yet.”
