Grasshoppers paid tribute to the passing of one of their founder members, Bunny Walker, by claiming a 36-26 victory over Datchworth.

G’s were slow to start playing up hill and into a stiff breeze in the first half and the visitors opened the scoring before Callum McCormack levelled with a try of his own.

Datchworth led after their following try was converted, while Chris Roberts’ was not.

However, Grasshoppers had the lead when Conor Gilmore converted after Louis Brown touched down.

Brown helped produce the try of the match as he ran 30 metres before setting up Matt Orishaguna.

Orishaguna got his second try but back came Datchworth to narrow the gap to ten points with a converted try.

G’s took control again when Stuart Daniels slipped in for a try which when converted by Conor Gilmore looked to make the game safe but Datchworth continued to remain within striking distance with a try of their own.

Grasshoppers were able to hold on for the victory and can go into their tour to Newcastle next weekend in good spirits.
