An under-strength Chiswick were given a scare by relegation threatened St Albans but had enough to claim a 29-18 victory.

Jon Gibson scored the first try of the match for the Dukes Meadow sideafter 10 minutes to cancel out an early St A’s penalty.

George Dimitriadis made it 10-3 midway through the half after a wonderful piece of skill from Joe Grindle.

However, St Albans hit back with a tries either side of Dan Godfrey going over to make it 17-13 at the break.

With the wind advantage and a resolute defence, Chiswick were able to dominate territory throughout the 2nd half.

Godfrey had his second 13 minutes into the second half and Dave Hill made sure of the points 15 minutes from time, although there was still time for St Albans to grab another consolation.
