More than 80,000 fans descended on Wembley Park for the first of the three sell-out NFL International Series, Miami Dolphins v New York Jets.

It’s the scene of England’s finest sporting moments – however, on Sunday (October 4), Wembley looked like a corner of the USA.

Olympic Way, which leads up to the Stadium, was awash with the stars and stripes and the buzz of American accents.

Instead of fish and chips, fans ate hotdogs and huge boxes of popcorn.

Flags of the two teams left Wembley Park looking more like a US city than London.

Fans of both teams packed the restaurants and bars of the newly revamped area around the stadium and shopped at London’s only outlet centre – London Designer Outlet.

The match on Sunday was the first of three NFL games due to take place this autumn.

The next match is Jacksonville Jaguars v Buffalo Bills on October 25 and then Kansas City Chiefs v Detroit Lions on November 1.

One NFL fan hopped a fence after the game, impaling his arm!
