Stage two of the Archer resurrection takes place next week when Bradley Wiggins' original club takes charge of its first new kit in 30 years.

Stewart Hadley was so determined to breathe life into the 88-year-old mecca for west London cyclists - he got sports clothing company Le Col to come up with new outfits.

Determined to copy the famous kit of old, the only compromise was in using modern cut and fabrics.

Teen talent: the young Wiggins in Archer colours

Hadley got the bug when his partner Tiffany rode the Prudential 100 last year that circles Surrey before returning to The Mall, and wanted to do the same on August 10 this year.

There were no further individual places with 80,000 applications for a maximum 25,000 slots; but there were some left for teams.

“True to form, my demographic was oversubscribed. I failed to win a place, but she had hers,” Hadley said.

“I applied as a team. We were allocated places for two teams, one mixed and one male.

“I liked the Archer T shirt, grey with a yellow band, it appealed to my retro style, and was a memento of the day.

“So humbly I have attempted to stoke the boiler again, we have two teams for the 2014 Prudential 100.”
